Chandigarh, October 26

The 41st edition of the much-awaited Chandigarh ‘Sangeet Sammelan’, organised by the Indian National Theatre and the Durga Das Foundation, got off to a melodic start at Strawberry Fields High School here on Friday.

Promising classical vocalist Prof Ojesh Pratap Singh, who imbibed the best nuances of Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra ‘gharanas’ in his recital, began with the exposition of raga Bhimpalasi through an ‘alaap’. He later rendered two compositions — ‘Jaane na doongi’ and ‘Laagi re mori lagan’ — in raga Kamod. Prof was accompanied by Sagar Gujrati on tabla and Dr Vinay Mishra on harmonium.
