Class XI student commits suicide, principal booked

Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur), July 18

A student of Class XI of Harjiana village, under the Chabbewal police station, on Thursday committed suicide by hanging himself. On the statement of the victim’s mother, the Chabbewal police have registered a case against the school principal for abetment to suicide.

As per information received, in the statement recorded by the Chabbewal police, Aruna Devi, mother of victim Akashvir, said her son studied in Class XI of a government school in a nearby village, Rampur Jhanjowal. In the morning, he had gone to school as usual. After school, when he came back, he looked disturbed and after some time he went to the cattle shed. In the evening when his younger sister went there, she found the body of Akash hanging from the roof girder.

According to the complainant, when they enquired that if anything was wrong with him, they came to know that he was seen talking with girls by school principal Malkit Kaur. After calling him in her office, she scolded Akashvir and reportedly told him that she had a video in which he could be seen interacting with the girls.

The principal allegedly threatened him that she would call his parents and show the video to them and that this video would be uploaded on the net. The complainant alleged that feeling offended, their son committed suicide. On the basis of the statement of the victim’s mother, the Chabbewal police have lodged an FIR against school principal Malkit Kaur and started investigation. — OC
