City student tops Eng olympiad

Amritsar: Zyna Dhillon, a student of Mount Litera Zee School, bagged rank 1 in the International English Olympiad (IEO). She scored 60 out of 60, making to the top rank at the international level.

Amritsar: Zyna Dhillon, a student of Mount Litera Zee School, bagged rank 1 in the International English Olympiad (IEO). She scored 60 out of 60, making to the top rank at the international level. On her achievement, Zyna said it was the unending support of the faculty and the exposure given by the school that lead to her achievement and recognition on the international platform. Manjot Dhillon, director of Mount Litera Zee School, said she was proud of the student. She appreciated the hard work put forward by her and wished her success for future endeavours. TNS

Four booked for abetting suicide

Amritsar: The police have booked four persons for abetment to suicide after an elderly man of the Partap Nagar area allegedly committed suicide here on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Talwinder Singh, Bakshish Singh, Bikramjit Singh, alias Lucky Baba, and Shashpal. In his complaint lodged with the police, Baljit Singh, son of the victim, stated that his father used to run a karyana store (departmental store) from their house. An adjoining building in which shops were made, whose owner was Joginder Singh Bambra, signed an agreement of the building with accused Talwinder Singh and Bakshish Singh and other two persons. There was some dispute over the building. The accused used to threaten his father with implicating him in a false case. Following harassment by the accused, his father committed suicide. A suicide note was recovered from his father. ASI Shinder Kumar said a case under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC had been registered in this regard.  TNS
