City soaks in Janmashtami celebrations

CHANDIGARH:The birth of Lord Krishna was rung in with religious fervour in the city with devotees of all age groups paying obeisance to the deity here on Monday.

The birth of Lord Krishna was rung in with religious fervour in the city with devotees of all age groups paying obeisance to the deity here on Monday. 

Mouth savouring sweets, glittering costumes, embellished pandals were the hallmark of the celebration.

At ISKCON temple, knick knacks of Janmasthami were put on display for purchase. The devotees chanted ‘Hare Rama, Hare Krishna’ while remembering Lord Krishna. 

The temple was decked up with garlands. Young children came clad as bal krishnas and gopis on the occasion. 

Nand Maharaj Das, co-president of ISKCON, Chandigarh, said: “It is a pious day and the atmosphere was brimming with positive vibes.”
