The city residents ushered in the New Year by dancing away well past midnight. No to be left behind, most hotels throw parties.

There were many youngsters who chose to party on the streets of the city. They parked their cars, put on blaring music and danced on the roads.

At a few places, police patrol teams had to step in to rein in youths. Bathinda SSP Dr Nanak Singh also remained on his toes and toured various police check-posts and barricading to review law and order in the city.

Some prayed, some tucked themselves in the warmth of their houses while others danced and drank to their heart’s content. Residents celebrated the New Year eve in different ways.

While at some hotels, families enjoyed live music while dining, at other places DJs played the latest foot-tapping numbers making the guests dance to their beats.

Keeping in mind the entertainment of children, who walked in with their parents at New Year bashes, hotels made sure that they had dedicated activities and zones for kids.

From special photo booths to magic shows to surprise games, the children also had a gala time at the parties.

Apart from this, even many religious functions were also organized in gurdwaras in the city and residents in large numbers paid obeisance and seek blessings for well being.

Earlier festivals and every other auspicious occasions were celebrated at homes and people were invited for parties to one another place. On the contrary, people nowadays not only enjoy privacy but prefers keeping their circle small and special, they not only go for parties with their partners or close friends but also chose to stay out throughout the night partying together.

“The idea is to make the New Year memorable. It doesn’t matter where you celebrate it. But staying at a hotel after a long party adds another charm to the celebrations,” said a resident.
