Amritsar, February 17

Udaynoor Singh, a student of Class VII of Government High School, Gurwali, is elated over his science model getting selected for presentation at the Festival of Innovation at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He had presented his model ‘Boon for deaf’ at the national-level INSPIRE science exhibition organised by the Department of Science and Technology.

Tripat Kaur, science teacher at Government High School, Gurwali, mentored his project.

It is a device meant to be attached to the garment of a person with hearing impairment. As soon as a person with hearing disability reaches a high traffic zone, the device begins vibrating to cautious him or her about the traffic around and decreases the mishap possibility.

Tripat Kaur said, “It is a simple low-cost device consisting mic, amplifier and a vibrator. Its working is based on the principle of energy conservation. Here sound energy gets converted into electrical energy.” The device’ range is 12 to 15 metre. — TNS
