City-based studio to host Kathak workshop

Antara, a city-based studio, will conduct a four-day ‘Kathak’ workshop by kathak dancer Parwati Dutta from February 14 at Jalandhar Cantt club. The workshop is being conducted exclusively to impart training in kathak to the aspiring dancers and is open for all. 

Gunjan Mittal, media coordinator of Antara Academy said: “Danseuse Parwati Dutta is a founder director and ‘Guru’ at Mahagami Gurukul in Aurangabad. “She is a versatile Odissi and Kathak dancer and has been visiting Jalandhar for the first time,” he added. 

“Dutta has learnt Kathak from Birju Maharaj and Odissi from Madhavi Mudgal and Kelucharan Mohapatra. She performs to promote dance forms. It will be an honour for the dancers to learn Kathak from her,” said Gunjan. Apart from the workshop, Parwati Dutta will also hold an interactive sessions with dancers and perform live at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) on February 16. — OC
