Dr Devinder Singh Sandhu was honoured with State Award by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for achievements in the field of cancer treatment for the past 20 years at a function held in Jalandhar.
Dr Devinder Singh Sandhu is a cancer super specialist (oncologist and hematologist) from Ludhiana.
He has treated and cured thousands of patients, including those with most deadly blood cancer and breast cancer.
He is a pioneer in cancer treatment in the state, having performed Punjab’s first ever bone marrow transplant (BMT) in Ludhiana in 2006.
He claims to be the only Indian oncologist who has been quoted in the USA cancer research papers.
In a research paper titled ‘Can Cancer be Preventable?’ published in Lexington, USA, Dr Sandhu is the only non-American reference to be quoted.
He was invited as faculty and he delivered guest lectures twice to American doctors on ‘Pros and Cons of Prostate Cancer Screening in Asian Immigrants to the United States’ at Jersey City, New Jersey, in July 2016 and at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in August 2016. Each lecture was given eight credit hours by American Medical Universities.
