Chief Justice lays stone of court complex at Amb

UNA: Justice Surya Kant, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a subdivisional court complex at Amb in Una district.

Justice Surya Kant, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a subdivisional court complex at Amb in Una district. A sum of Rs 10 crore will be spent on the construction of the building.

Speaking on the occasion, the CJ expressed the need to provide justice to the poorest and needy. He said therefore it was imperative that the basic infrastructure and other facilities were made available at the lowest courts on a priority basis. He said efforts would be made to provide office space for lawyers near the court premises so that the people at large were benefited.

Justice Surya Kant said keeping in view large pendency of cases in various courts, a decision to set up circuit courts would be taken. He exhorted the judiciary and the Bar to provide speedy justice to all with the active involvement of all stakeholders.

High Court Judge, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur said lawyers needed to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills, adding that their profession was very noble and they needed to uphold its integrity. District and Sessions Judge DR Thakur earlier welcomed the HC judges.

Registrar General of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Virender Singh, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati, SP Devakar Sharma, Amb Chief Judicial Magistrate Dheeru Thakur and president of the Amb Bar Association, Onkar Chaudhary were also present.
