Jalandhar, January 17
Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema has demanded that the government should order inquiry into allegations levelled by Congress MLA Kulbir S Zira about the involvement of police brass in perpetuating the menace of drugs in the state. He also called for a Punjab and Haryana High Court-monitored inquiry into the allegations levelled by a liquor contractor against Zira over seeking bribe.
“The haste is indicative of the fact that even PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar, like CM Capt Amarinder Singh, had succumbed to the mounting pressure of the mighty drug lords running the trade in connivance with the police top brass,” he alleged in a media interaction here on Thursday. — TNS
