Chandigarh, February 16

Former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala was on Saturday shifted to the Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, after his health deteriorated at Narnaul where he had gone to address a meeting of INLD workers.

The doctors diagnosed the disease as pneumonia, as he had high temperature at the time he was shifted to the hospital. His younger son and Leader of the Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala said that he had addressed the workers’ meeting and was speaking to mediapersons when he complained of uneasiness and his condition started deteriorating. Abhay said that the party workers immediately shifted him to the Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Ever since Chautala came out of the Tihar jail on a 21-day furlough on February 8, he had been addressing meetings of INLD workers across the state to revive the party, which suffered a setback in the Jind bypoll.

Today, he was to cover Mahendragarh (Narnaul) and Rewari districts, but had to be shifted to Gurugram during his first programme. Chautala has not been keeping good health for the past some months and has often been shifted to hospitals in Delhi from the Tihar jail.
