The Rewari gangrape case was on Thursday committed to the District and Sessions Court in Narnaul after submission of chargesheet in the court of Subdivisional Judicial Magistrate in Kanina.

The chargesheet named 38 witnesses. Earlier, all eight accused in the case appeared in court, which sent five of them to judicial custody. Three of them had already been granted bail. The next date of hearing in the case is October 25.

A college student was gangraped in a room adjacent to a tubewell in the fields of Naya Gaon village in Rewari after being kidnapped from the bus stand in Kanina on September 12. The crime was perpetrated when she was going for coaching classes.

The Rewari police lodged a zero FIR on the complaint of the victim on September 13. The case was later handed over to special investigation team led by Mewat SP Naazneen Bhasin.

Three prime accused — Nishu Phogat, Army man Pankaj and Manish — and five others — Deen Dayal, medical practitioner Sanjeev, Army man Naveen alias Nikku, Abhishek and Manjeet — had been arrested in connection with the case.
