Chamba cops’ ‘spiritual development’

The Chamba police have decided to start a spiritual development programme to help manage stress among cops.

A rare memorandum of understanding was inked between the Police Department and Yog Manav Vikas Trust, Banikhet, an NGO, to execute various kinds of programmes to uplift, empower, educate police personnel and others through vocational training and spiritual development programmes.

Chamba Superintendent of Police Monika Bhutunguru has been instrumental in taking this initiative. She was recently awarded by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu for effecting change among the masses by starting drug eradication practices, and for implementing strict measures to improve law and order in the district. 

The agreement was signed by the SP and DSP (Headquarter) Ajay Thakur on the behalf of the Police Department and Trust chairperson Kiran Dodeja and trustee Subhash Kaushish on the behalf of Yog Manav Vikas Trust at the office of SP, Chamba, on March 20, 2019, initially for a period of one year with scope of further extension.

The MoU shall not contain any financial implications on either of the parties and for this purpose the Trust will provide free services to the Police Department and jail inmates from time to time.

The implementation of the MoU is expected to usher another era of improvement through adopting ancient spiritual heritage practices being propagated by the Yog Manav Vikas Trust for the past several years for the general public and various public sector undertakings.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Alok Kumar, chief general manager, Chamera-II Power Station; Ganesh Sahni, general manager, Chamera-III Power Station and SK Dodeja, former director NHPC.
