Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday accused the Centre of playing with fire by trying to dividing the state on religious and sectarian lines. She also blamed Governor Satya Pal Malik for acting at the behest of New Delhi and “implementing” BJP’s agenda in the state after failing to do it when in coalition with the PDP.

“Through the Governor, the Centre is taking decisions that are against the sentiments of people... I want to tell the Government of India that you are playing with fire. There should be rotational headquarter (in Ladakh). Pir Panjal and Chenab division should also be created otherwise there could be another agitation. (If the government doesn’t) it would mean you have some hidden agenda and want to dis-empower and divide the Muslims on religious and sectarian lines. You are creating divisions of Shia-Sunni, Kashmiri-Punjabi, Gujjar-Pahari, you are trying to break the Muslim-majority character of the state which we will not allow,” Mehbooba said while addressing a press conference here.
