Amritsar, August 14
The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) on Thursday arrested a drug inspector of the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) from Amritsar on the charge of corruption. At present, he is posted at its zonal office in Baddi.
It has been learnt that CBI sleuths also arrested two owners of an Amritsar-based pharmaceutical firm in the case. The incident occurred late last evening.
Karan Sachdeva, Zonal Drug Authority, said the drug inspector had come for inspection of a blood bank at a private hospital and left in the evening. However, they came to know about his arrest the next day through their social group. Sachdeva said he did not have any official confirmation of the incident.
An office-bearer of the Punjab Chemist Association preferring anonymity said they had received the information about the incident, according to which the agency had received several complaints of corrupt practices against the accused and it had been keeping an eye on him for the past many days. It had also raided his residence.
