Capt, Chief Principal Secy fail to meet

Amid reports of Suresh Kumar, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, not keen to continue in the government, the much-anticipated meeting between him and Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh did not take place today.

The meeting would now take place tomorrow, as Kumar had gone to attend a function at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, whereas the Chief Minister reached back Chandigarh after visiting the firecracker blast site in Batala. It was for the second consecutive day, Kumar did not attend office, nor met anyone.

Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said he remained non-committal about chairing important meetings scheduled over the next few days. Though there was no official word from Capt Amarinder Singh’s office on the issue, sources close to the Chief Minister said ithad hinted at giving a “hearing” to Kumar to sort out the issue.

The controversy over Suresh Kumar’s refusal to attend office was being linked with the way the ongoing case challenging his appointment as CPS was being handled by the government.
