Jalandhar: Innocent Hearts students excelled in the JEE (Mains) exam conducted by the National Testing Agency in January 2019 making their alma mater proud. The percentile of the first attempt was: Vaibhav Makkar (98.46), Gurjot (97.11), Tanya (92.03), Pritish (92.01) and Ripudaman Singh (92.00). Their final rank will be declared after the second JEE examination to be held in April 2019. Director Principal Dheeraj Banati congratulated the students and wished them good luck for the next examination. Secretary Innocent Hearts, Dr Anup Bowry applauded the efforts of the students. TNS

Seminar on traffic rules

Jalandhar: The NSS wing of Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering organised a seminar on traffic rules. The seminar was organised for the Computer Science and Engineering first year students to apprise them of traffic rules and road safety. The resource persons from the police explained about the traffic rules. Sukhbir Singh Chattha, director, academic affairs, KCL Group of Institutes, motivated the NSS wing for organising such events. Workshop on Physics

Jalandhar: The Post Graduate Department of Physics of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), organised an experimental workshop-cum-interaction by Shiksha Rattan Dr Jaswinder Singh, under the ‘DBT Star College Status Scheme’. Dr Jaswinder Singh’s ‘Lab on Wheels’, the mobile car laboratory is becoming a fascination for students around the state. Dr Singh demonstrated and simplified the complex concepts of mathematics and physics. He laid emphasis on practical knowledge and stressed on strength, weakness, opportunities and threats of our life. He demonstrated the concept of charge using a charged balloon, paper bits and teflon tape. He suggested magical and precise methods to solve mathematical calculations. Lecture on linguistics

Jalandhar: The faculty of languages (English, Hindi, Punjabi, Sanskrit) of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, organised an extension lecture on ‘Linguistics: Why study it’, under the guidance of Principal Dr Ajay Sareen. Prof Rishi Nagar from the Department of Anthropological Linguistics, University of Calgary, Canada, was the resource person. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen welcomed him and presented him a painting made by the BD Department. Dean, Innovation, Dr Ramnita Saini Sharda, welcomed Pramod with a sapling. Prof Rishi Nagar explained the importance of using language in a right manner. He accorded practical examples about linguistics and told students about the pronunciation of words in a right way. He stressed on various concepts related to linguistics. TNS

Jalandhar: DAV College, Jalandhar, got the third position in the ‘Best Economics Studies’, in a survey conducted by ‘The Knowledge Review’ magazine in 2018. The Knowledge Review is an international education magazine for universities, students, teachers and parents who present news, blogs, articles and courses from the best universities. While working as a platform, The magazine accorded a broad perspective of the vast education sector from the perspective of a student, teacher and university. Principal Dr S K Arora said the moment was a proud for us. Head of the department of economics, Dr SK Khurana said the overall development of the students had been the main objective of the department. TNS
