Top cop visits inspector’s house on birthday

MUMBAI: It was no less than “Diwali” for Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Nikam as the city’s top cop, Dattatray Padsalgikar, visited his residence to wish him on his 43rd birthday.

Mumbai: It was no less than “Diwali” for Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Nikam as the city’s top cop, Dattatray Padsalgikar, visited his residence to wish him on his 43rd birthday. A Crime Branch team, led by Nikam, had arrested Sajjad Mughal from J&K in connection with the Pallavi Purkayastha murder case. They had tracked down Mughal after relentless efforts. Mughal had allegedly murdered the lawyer in 2012 after trying to rape her. Pallavi was the daughter of a retired bureaucrat. Incidentally, Padsalgikar was appointed Maharashtra DGP on Saturday. PTI
