BSF officer kills himself in Poonch district

Rajouri: A Border Security Force (BSF) officer allegedly shot himself dead with his service weapon near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district around 2 pm on Thursday. He has been identified as BSF Assistant Sub-Inspector Karamvir Singh, a resident of Panipat in Haryana.

Karamvir, who was posted with the 168 Battalion in the Balnoi sector, was reportedly on duty when he killed himself inside a bunker. On hearing gun shots, his colleagues rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby health centre, where doctor declared him brought dead. Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Mendhar, Neeraj Kumar confirmed the incident and said the police had started investigation. OC
