To provide educational opportunities and cultural exchange, British Council, an international organisation of UK, has partnered with the Punjab government to strengthen apprenticeship training and engagement of apprentices in the state.

The workshop was managed and delivered by the British Council in partnership with CII, aimed to ensure that the employers are updated with latest policy amendments, understand the specific needs of stakeholders and share experiences to come up with workable solutions.

The second Apprenticeship Workshop for Employers was attended by employees from small, medium and large-scale organisations and representatives of local industry associations from Jalandhar and neighbouring districts.

Tom Birtwistle, Director, North, British Council India, said: “The objective of the project is to improve the employment prospects to students, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, by piloting and introducing new approaches to employer-led skills development.”

He said he was happy to be associated with the Punjab government in order to work together and engage the talent and ambition of young people in the state to become members of the skilled workforce.
