Amritsar: The Municipal Corporation has called its General House meeting on September 5. Last time, the meeting was held nine months ago. Councillors had been demanding a General House meeting for long. Some of them also staged a protest against Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu a few weeks ago. The Mayor had assured them to call a meeting in the end of August after listening to their issues constituency wise. It is expected that the meeting could be a stormy affair as councillors are not satisfied with the funds, which are being released for development works. TNS

VB teams visit MC, AIT offices

Amritsar: On the direction of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Vigilance teams visited the Municipal Corporation and Amritsar Improvement Trust offices here on Friday. The High court has recently ordered a Vigilance inquiry into court cases where ex parte orders have been passed by courts due to non-filing of written statement by them.  Komal Mittal, Additional Commissioner, said Vigilance officials had sought the record of past three years. PSPCL’s session on August 26

Amritsar: To swiftly redress the problems of residents, PSPCL’s Consumer Grievances Resolution Forum will hold a session here on August 26. Complaints, including erroneous bill, wrong tariff and out-of-order meter, will be taken up during the session. Forum chairman SK Arora will be present on the occasion. All registered complainants of PSPCL’s border zone and north zone, Jalandhar, can avail of the opportunity. TNS
