MALOUT: A 20-year-old labourer, who was working in an under construction house, died after falling off the roof here on Monday. The deceased, identified as Harvinder Singh, a resident of Aulakh village, was working on the second floor of the building when the mishap occurred. Sources said he lost his balance, leading to the mishap. He was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. Jawan dies of bullet injury
Malout: A Home Guard jawan in his early 50s died under mysterious circumstances after sustaining a bullet injury on Sun. The deceased, identified as Santokh Singh, was posted at the Lakhewali police station. Santokh’s son Lovepreet Singh said his father had never discussed any kind of problem with him. Lovepreet said his father might have died after the rifle fell down. The police have started an investigation into the incident. TNS
Hit by vehicle, pedestrian killed
Bathinda: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Skyland Resort on Ring Road on Sunday. Jaswant Singh, Station House Officer, Canal Colony police station, said: “We came to know about the incident around 4:00 pm. We are trying to identify the deceased, who sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he breathed his last.” A case under Sections 304-A and 279 of the IPC has been registered against an unidentified person at the Canal Colony police station. TNS

Woman ends life
Bathinda: Apparently under mental stress, a 30-year-old woman committed suicide at her residence in Parasram Nagar here on Monday. According to workers of an NGO, the deceased has been identified as Bela. They said the cloth that she used to hang self was tore apart as half of it was found hanging from the fan and the other half around her neck. The police are investigating the matter. — TNS
