ROHTAK: The Rohtak police will recruit 200 ex-servicemen or former officials of the Central Armed Police Force as special police officers (SPOs). Rohtak SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said on Wednesday, the recruitment drive would commence on February 18 and the SPOs would be recruited for a period of one year. The candidates should be between 25 and 50 years of age, have at least five years of experience in the armed forces and should not have been sacked for indiscipline, misconduct or on medical/health grounds. 3 protesting NHM employees sacked 

Ambala: Termination letters were issued to three employees under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Ambala on Wednesday as they failed to join duty. As per the information, Tarandeep, NHM association district president; Harinder, account assistant; and Anjali, fleet manager; have been issued the letters. Of the 552 NHM employees in Ambala, 279 are on strike. Meanwhile, the NHM association has extended its strike to two more days. TNS

Disabled docs seek quota in promotions

Chandigarh: Physically challenged doctors in the state are seeking reservation in promotions. Although some of the departments such as the PWD, Excise and Taxation, and Education have started providing the same for people with disability, the Health Department is yet to implement it. Nearly 35 physically challenged doctors are working with the state government. TNS

Woman consumes sedatives near police station

Kurukshetra: A 48-year-old woman allegedly consumed sedatives near the women’s police station here on Wednesday. Before taking the step, she reportedly submitted a complaint against a youth with regard to a financial dispute. The woman’s condition was said to be stable. TNS

Sonepat, Palwal get railway link 

Gurugram: The government has announced a new railway line between Sonepat and Palwal to connect all industrial hubs of the state and establish a seamless economic corridor. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday said the railway line would be built parallel to the KMP Expressway and would be named ‘Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project’. The length of the rail line will be 130 km. The project, estimated to cost Rs 4,100 crore, will be completed in three years. TNS

Karnal MC House meet on Feb 20

Karnal: The first meeting of the newly formed House of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (MC) will be held on February 20, which will be chaired by Mayor Renu Bala Gupta. The authorities have sought from councillors the list of development works to be undertaken in each ward, so that the work could be started before the imposition of the model code of conduct. As per the information, some prominent issues to be discussed during the meeting include ongoing projects and the approval of new ones. TNS
