Jhajjar: A woman was allegedly robbed of Rs 1 lakh near Mundakhera village in the district on Tuesday. The incident took place around 11 am when victim Parvati along with her nephew Gautam was returning to her village on a motorcycle after withdrawing money from Punjab National Bank in Badli town. She said when they reached near the village, a car intercepted them and four youths alighted from the vehicle. They pointed a gun at his nephew and snatched the bag containing cash from her. The miscreants fled towards Badli, she alleged. Investigation officer Ashok Kumar said a case had been registered. TNS

Two cousins run over by dumper

Karnal: Two cousins were run over by a dumper near RK Puram on the Kunjpura road on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Harsh (16), a resident of Sadar Bazar, and Rajat (21), a resident of Nasirpur village. The incident took place when both were on their way to Kunjpura on a motorcycle to distribute 'parsad' to their relatives. There was a religious function at the house of Harsh on Sunday evening. While Harsh died on the spot, Rajat was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead. The dumper driver has been booked for negligent driving. However, he is at large. TNS

Liquor contractor found murdered

Sonepat: The body of a liquor contractor was found in a pool of blood in his car on the outskirts of Khanda village on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sandeep. According to preliminary investigation, it seemed Sandeep was allegedly beaten to death with sticks and rods. On the basis of a complaint of victim's father Raj Singh, a case has been registered against six persons. His father alleged it was a planned murder as the accused had called his son to meet them on Monday evening. Sandeep did not return and his body was found the next morning. The police said the accused had tied to burn the body. OC

Man held with 400-gm charas 

Kaithal: The anti-drugs squad of the district police on Sunday arrested a drug trafficker in Pai village and seized 400-gm charas from his possession. SP Waseem Akram said a police team, led by SI Balwan Singh, raided the shop of Rishipal in Pai and recovered drugs. The accused was sent in judicial custody by a local court. OC

196 examined at Ayush camp 

Kaithal: The Ayush Department on Monday organised a free medical check-up camp at Keorak village in the district. Balkar Arya, sarpanch, inaugurated the camp, in which 196 patients were examined. Poonam Walia, district ayurveda officer, informed people about Unani treatment and called upon them to follow it. OC
