Mother Tongue to be celebrated

AMRITSAR: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked its schools to celebrate the International Mother Tongue Day on February 21. The board has asked the schools to hold activities, like elocution, debate, singing, essay writing and painting competitions.

Girl ends life over ielts failure

TARN TARAN: Upset over failure in bagging a good IELTS score, an 18-year-old girl has committed suicide in Kairon village, 20 km from here. The Patti City police have lodged a report under Section 174 of the CrPC. The deceased has been identified as Sukhjeewanjit Kaur. She was desirous to go abroad for which she had appeared for IELTS. She could get only five bands. The deceased consumed some poisonous substance on Sunday evening in her house. Finding her in a very critical condition, her parents immediately rushed her to a hospital nearby in Sheron. Later, she was shifted to a local private hospital. She breathed her last on Monday. OC
