Bus fare cut by a paisa per km

CHANDIGARH: Three months after increasing fare of buses run by the state-owned Pepsu Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) by seven paise per km, the Transport Department on Thursday reduced the fare by one paisa per km. It is being linked with decrease in diesel prices.

Chandigarh: Three months after increasing fare of buses run by the state-owned Pepsu Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) by seven paise per km, the Transport Department on Thursday reduced the fare by one paisa per km. It is being linked with decrease in diesel prices. With this cut, per passenger per km fare of an ordinary bus will be Rs 1.09 as against Rs 1.10 earlier. The fare of heating, ventilation and air conditioning bus will now be Rs 1.30 paise per km against 1.40 paise per km. The fare of Integral coach and super integral coach has been fixed at Rs 196.20 and Rs 218 per km, respectively. TNS

Majithia’s defamation case adjourned

Ludhiana: Judicial Magistrate Jagjit Singh on Thursday adjourned the hearing in the defamation case filed by former minister Bikram Singh Majithia against AAP leader Sanjay Singh till February 16.  The case was fixed for complainant evidence, but no witness was examined on Thursday. Majithia did not appear in the court as his presence was permanently exempted by the court when he was minister. In his complaint, Majithia had alleged Sanjay made a defamatory statement against him at a rally in Moga in 2015. TNS

600 liquor bottles seized, two held

Abohar: The police on Thursday claimed to have seized 600 bottles of liquor that was smuggled from Haryana. Officials said the seizure was made by intercepting a car near Kular village. Sagar, a resident of Gidderbaha, and Naresh Kumar of Subhash Nagar here were arrested under the Excise Act. OC
