Clarify on defective ad, SC tells Centre

Tej Pratap invites Shatrughan to join RJD

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad's son Tej Pratap Yadav on Tuesday invited BJP MP from Patna Sahib and actor Shatrughan Sinha to join the Rashtriya Janata Dal. After his Janata Darbar at RJD office in Patna, Tej Pratap said: “Shatrughan uncle is welcome to our party. I used to talk to him and had visited his Mumbai house too.” He had also attacked the BJP and PM Narendra Modi, saying: “If telling a truth amounts to being a rebellion, I am a rebel.” Sinha is believed to contest LS poll from Patna Sahib on an RJD ticket if denied one from the BJP. Left parties gear up for Feb 3 rally in Kolkata

New Delhi: After TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's 'United India' rally at Parade Ground in Kolkata, the Left parties are striving hard to make their February 3 rally at the same venue a success. “The TMC rally was a government show. More than Rs 50 crore was spent on it. The Left Front will organise a bigger rally than the TMC in Kolkata…more than 5 lakh people will attend it," said Hannan Molla, general secretary of the CPM-affiliated All India Kisan Sabha. Another Left insider disclosed that other political parties will be kept out of the February 3 show. TNS

BJP rebel elected Jaipur Mayor, party suspends him

Jaipur: BJP rebel Vishnu Dutt Sharma, alias Latta, was elected the mayor of Jaipur on Tuesday. He defeated the party's candidate, Manoj Bhardwaj, by just one vote. Latta got 45 votes and Manoj 44 of the 90-member Jaipur Municipal Corporation. The mayor post has been vacant since last month after former mayor Ashok Lahoti was elected an MLA. Meanwhile, BJP state president Madan Lal Saini expelled Latta from the party for six years for ‘indiscipline’. OC
