Ludhiana: Elections of Indian Medical Association (IMA) for the year 2019 were held and Dr Sunil Katyal has been elected as president unanimously for the year 2020. Dr SS Sibia has been declared senior vice president and Dr Pawan Dhingra junior vice-president for the year 2019. Dr Arun Gupta, president IMA Ludhiana, Dr Manoj Kumar Sobti, member Punjab Medical Council and ex president IMA Punjab and Dr Jassal, (President 2019) congratulated the new team on their unanimous election. They said that all of them are experienced persons and with their vast experience, they will take IMA Ludhiana to new heights. TNS

Body found in Buddha Nullah

Ludhiana: The body of a middle-aged man was found from Buddha Nullah in New Shivpuri area on Monday. The deceased appears to be 30-35 years of age. He could not be identified as no document was found on the body. The local residents spotted the body and informed the police. A team from the Division Number 4 police station reached the spot and fished out the body. It was sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. According to the police, the body would be kept in the mortuary for next 72 hours for identification. TNS 

300 examined at eye camp

Mandi Ahmedgarh: The Lions Club Greater Ahmedgarh organised its 25th annual eye check-up camp at Hind Hospital here. As many as 300 patients were examined by a team of doctors led by ophthalmic surgeon Dr Atul Kakkar. Around 80 patients were chosen for implantation of intra-ocular lenses. The event was inaugurated by chairman Jaswant Singh Goga and vice-chairman Ashok Verma.  Rajnish Bansal and Sat Pal Jindal chaired the inaugural and concluding sessions. Referring to the inference drawn from series of camps held in various localities of Malwa, Dr Kakkar said: “Though rural people have now started taking advice of doctors seriously, urbanites show little concern towards tips given during awareness about causes and consequences of poor eye care.” OC

British Council award conferred on AICA

Ludhiana: Amrit Indo-Canadian Academy has been conferred with the British Council International School Award (ISA) 2018-21. The award was credited to the school for showcasing their stupendous performance in integrating the school curriculum with internationalism. This fusion of framing internationalism with the school curriculum will definitely going to boom our upcoming generation in the field of English as an international language.
