The struggling West Indies were dealt another blow today when opener Evin Lewis pulled out of the limited-overs leg of the India tour, citing personal reasons. Lewis had recently declined a central contract offered by Cricket West Indies, potentially making himself available for T20 leagues around the world. Kieran Powell will be Lewis’ replacement in the ODIs and Nicholas Pooran in the T20Is.

Prajnesh enters quarterfinals 

Prajnesh Gunneswaran, the lone Indian surviving in the singles competition, quelled a late challenge from Zhe Li to book a quarterfinal berth at the Ningbo Challenger today. The Chennai southpaw won 6-3 2-6 7-6(0) in the second round. Ramkumar Ramanathan and Sumit Nagal crashed out of the men’s doubles, while Saketh Myneni and N Sriram Balaji entered the quarterfinals.

Yuki suffers defeat on return 

Yuki Bhambri’s comeback to the ATP circuit after recovering from a knee injury didn’t go well as he suffered a first-round defeat at the European Open in Antwerp, Belgium. Bhambri lost 6-7(6) 7-5 1-6 to Italy’s Salvatore Caruso. Meanwhile, Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak beat Leander Paes and Miguel Angel Reyyes-Varela 7-5 6-4 to move to the doubles quarterfinals.
