Bowlers guide CAG to win

A fine bowling performance by Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) helped the side to register an eight-wicket win against Air India in the ongoing 24th All India JP Atray Cricket Championship, here on Sunday.

Arpit  Pannu (3/14) wrecked Air India’s innings, while Nipun Pandita (2/19), Jagjeet Singh (1/26), Karan Kaila (1/14), Gaurav Gambhir (1/8) and Karanveer (1/1) were the other wicket takers. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Air India bundled out on a low total of 81 runs in 24.4 overs. Sagar Dahiya (40 off 63 balls, with five boundaries) was the only main contributor in the team's total. Chasing a low total, CAG's Arjun Azad (46 off 69 balls, with six boundaries and a six) and Mohit Handa (33 off 32 balls, with two boundaries and two sixes) scored unbeaten contributions to ensure a comfortable win. Sagar Sehrawat and Sukhjinder claimed one wicket each for the bowling side. 

In the second match, FCI defeated RSCC, Delhi by 72 runs. Winning the toss and electing to bowl, RSCC Delhi failed in their attempt as FCI posted 250/9 in allotted 50 overs. Chetan Sharma and Ayush Bhardwaj opened for FCI. The duo raised a 10-run partnership, before Chetan fall prey to Rahul Choudhary. Thereafter, Bhardwaj was joined by Sidesh Kinlekar and the duo raised a 147-run stand for the second wicket. The partnership was broken by Pardeep Prashar, when he accounted for Bhardwaj (89 off 105 balls, with nine boundaries). Kinlekar (84 off 104 balls, with seven boundaries and a six) soon left the crease after he was claimed by Parth on the team's total reading of 202. 

Thereafter, the side lost quick wickets-Rajinder (4), Manish (19), Manish Sherawat (5), Shivank Vashisht (6)-before achieving the 25-run mark. Choudhary (3/54) and Prashar (3/33) were the main wicket takers for the bowling side, while Parth Madan (2/52) and Parmesh Khokar (1/41) also claimed wickets. 

In reply, the Delhi team bundled out on 178 runs. Yash Sehrawat (7) and Manav Goel (3) could not start well and left for pavilion on the team's total of 17 runs. Gagan Vats then in company of Rahul Yadav raised a 71-run partnership to the little help of the side. 

After Vats (37 off 65 balls) left the crease, Yadav (66 off 93 balls, with two boundaries and a six) and Gitansh Khera (27 off 26 balls) made some effort to achieve the target, however to no avail. Manish Sehrawat (2/30), Shivank Vashisht (2/35) and Mayank Malhotra (2/34) were the main wicket takers along with Rajinder Bisht (1/31), Yash Bhatt (1/6) and Manish (1/34).

 Rohan’s ton for BTM 

In the third match, Rohan Marwaha (119 off 143 balls, with 15 boundaries and a six) came up with a stunning ton to help BTM register a 46-run win over GST and Central Excise Chennai.  His innings was supported by Vishwanath Pratap (66 off 99 balls) and Sharad Lamba (22 off 12 balls). Harish Kumar, Gautam and Sagar Sharma claimed three wickets each for the bowling side.  

In reply, Vaibhav Arora (4/30) and Bhagminder Singh (3/37) helped BTM to defend the target. The duo helped restricting the Chennai outfit on 203 runs. Gautam (45 off 29 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes), Arjit Pannu ( 41 off 72 balls, with five boundaries), Harish (26 off  17 balls) and Aman (26 off 34 balls) were the main run scorers in the chase.
