Union Minister Vijay Goel today said there was an acute water crisis in Delhi as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) did not have any action plan for the summers.

Goel and BJP activists yesterday had gheraoed chief executive officer

of the DJB while protesting against water shortage and supply of contaminated water.

“The city’s demand is of 1,100 million gallon water, but the DJB has only 925 million gallons,” Goel said.

He said the DJB was not making any effort to make up for the deficit from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The government was neither digging bore-wells for an access to groundwater, said Goel.

He said, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the protesters “gundas”, who demanded a task force to work out the difficulties being faced by the residents due to supply of contaminated water.

Goel also demanded that the complaints of water crisis be uploaded on the DJB’s website, waiver of the water bills of residents who were supplied contaminated water, action against tanker mafia and an action plan for summer.
