In a major embarrassment to the ruling BJP, its Bahraich MP Sadhvi Savitri Bai Phoole on Sunday held a massive rally launching a campaign to defend the Constitution and upholding the reservation for SCs and STs.

Addressing the ‘Hunkaar rally’ organised by the Namo Buddhay Jansewa Samiti, she attacked the ruling BJP government for not only vandalising the statue of the Father of the Indian Constitution Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, but even conspiring to tamper with the Constitution by diluting reservation for the SCs/STs and promoting privatisation in a big way.

She pointed out that during the last four years on numerous occasions, she had spoken for the passing of the Bill providing reservations in promotion but to avail. Phoole attacked the Yogi Adityanath government for not being able to protect Babasaheb’s statues which are being vandalised.

“Whether I remain an MP or not is unimportant, but at no cost I will allow the conspiracy to tamper with the Constitution,” said the Bahriach MP while launching a “fight to the finish” campaign to get the Constitution implemented in letter and spirit.

She repeatedly asked the large number of people at the rally to raise their hands to express solidarity with her demand to unite the 85 per cent “bahujan” so that the rights bestowed on them by the Constitution remained intact.
