BJP membership to increase by 7 crore: Nadda

BJP working president JP Nadda on Thursday said the party membership has increased 5,81,34,242 in the membership drive that ended on August 20.

This is the online membership. If offline figures of more than 62 lakh online and other numbers that are being calculated are added, the party’s members would be 7 crore, said Nadda calling the membership drive which a huge success.

There was a huge desire among people to join the BJP in places like West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir. In a border village, Karna as many as 6,059 joined the BJP.

This, he declared, after a review meeting of the membership drive that was conducted between July 6 and August 20. The constitution binding was to increase the membership drive by 20 per cent, he said.

The membership drive in Jammu and Kashmir saw 6 lakh new members joining the BJP. Nadda said there were just eight countries in the world with a population more than the BJP membership.

The BJP had 11 crore members before the drive.

The membership drive has ended because the organisation elections will begin but people can continue to join the BJP, he said

National elections of the party will be held in December.
