BJP: Mamata shielding top cop as he knows a lot

Retaliating aggressively against their fast emerging political rival number one — West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee — the BJP today questioned Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s presence at “dharna” site where she was on a “satyagrah” against the Narendra Modi government’s alleged high-handedness.

“What is there in this police commissioner that Mamata is sitting on a dharna to save him after she kept quiet even when her top party men were indicted and arrested in Ponzi scams, ” Union Minister Ravi Shakar Prasad wondered and also on whether it was a “sin to investigate corruption and corrupt people”.

“The total suspicious circumstances surrounding the situation prove this police commissioner knows a lot and therefore he has to be saved. She seems to be wanting to frustrate any attempt to conduct a fair investigation against him,” he alleged.

Banerjee is “completely demoralised” because of “overpowering support of people to PM Modi and the BJP”, Prasad claimed as the saffron party pitched against her with all its might in the latest showdown with her.
