Ludhiana, February 14

Leaders of the BJP are all confident about their victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Captain Abhimanyu, Lok Sabha election in-charge, Punjab, said the BJP was going strong and the BJP/SAD stood united.

They would be there with each other on all seats and the BJP, as in earlier times, would contest from Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur and Amritsar seats, he said.

He cleared the air about any swapping of seats in Punjab.

The BJP leaders, including Captain Abhimanyu, Prabhat Jha, Punjab BJP president Shwait Malik and office-bearers of the state unit were in the city to hold meetings ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Talking particularly on ‘Mahagadbandhan’, Captain Abhimanyu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going so strong that almost all other parties had come together against him, terming it to be a ‘Mahagadbandhan’.

Had he been weak, there would be no such alliance of all political parties, he said. At the same time, Prabhat Jha said, “’Mahagadbandhan’ jhagra hai, Narendra Modi tagra hai”.

The leaders held several rounds of meetings with core committee members to chalk out further action plan, keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections at the Centre.

BJP leaders, including Ashwani Sharma and Kamal Sharma held meetings with the office-bearers. The leaders motivated all, including workers, to gear up and reach out to the grass-root level.

During the core committee meeting, a few grievances/issues were discussed with leaders, which were taken care of.

“The state working committee analysed everything — the weaknesses and strengths and accordingly, the instructions were issued to the workers. The achievements of the Modi government were highlighted. Punjab’s political scenario was discussed. The basic aim was to educate the BJP Punjab functionary to pull up socks to show results,” said a senior leader.

No law and order in state: Shwait Malik

Commenting on the present law and order situation in the state, Shwait Malik said the recent gang rape was highly condemnable. The accused should be given death sentence for committing such a heinous crime. The state was dominated by anti-social elements and terrorists, said Malik.

Taking a dig at Capt Amarinder Singh, Navjot Sidhu and Manpreet Badal, Malik said, “The Chief Minister was not available, Sidhu was busy minting money from television shows. Ideally, he should be available to the people of the state for development but it was not so.”

Manpreet Badal has gone in ‘hibernation’ because he feels that there is no money and with empty coffers, development/progress is not possible, he added.
