Ambala, April 7

All-India Mahila Congress general secretary Chitra Sarwara has accused local BJP leaders of encroaching upon government land. Sarwara also criticised the local administration for not taking action against the BJP leaders.

While interacting with mediapersons, she said: “The Municipal Corporation carried out encroachment drives in residential colonies, including Kasturba and Subhash Colony, in Ambala Cantonment. However, no action has been taken against the local BJP leaders who have encroached upon the government land in different areas.”

“Nearly eight months ago, an anti-encroachment drive was carried out in Subhash Colony, but following the assurances by the BJP leaders people got their toilets and stairs reconstructed. Yesterday, a drive was again carried out demolishing the reconstructed structures,” she said.

She alleged: “There are encroachments in main markets, Bihari Lal compound and near 12-crossroad where a dharamsala was to be constructed, but it has also been encroached upon. People belonging to the BJP are involved in all these cases, but no action is taken against them.”

She said the administration must treat all people equally. There should be no relaxation for BJP leaders. Else, the Congress would start agitations against the administration and the government in Ambala. — TNS
