Jammu, December 24
The Congress has accused the BJP of doing nothing for the people of Jammu for nearly four years when it was in power in the state. Addressing a meeting of farmers and youth in Marh on Monday, JKPCC vice-president Balwan Singh said the BJP had been claiming to have done so much during its rule so they should come out with details of works done for farmers, border residents and youth.
He alleged that the BJP rule was the darkest period for the state, particularly for the Jammu region that suffered because of the unprecedented corruption of its ministers and legislators. “The BJP has broken all records of corruption and misgovernance was its hallmark. The sufferers were the common people, especially youth who were exploited and denied opportunities to get jobs because of corruption,” he said.
He said the time had come for the BJP to pack its bags from Jammu and Kashmir as people of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh had already delivered a verdict against it. “People had realised that the Congress alone could sail them through difficult times inflicted by the BJP.”
Balwan Singh said the Congress, under the dynamic leadership of party president Rahul Gandhi, will help farmers come out of distress as the party has done in the three states where it won the Assembly elections. He said he would work for the youth and other sections of society.
