The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun moves to show the door to its Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini, who launched his party and fielded a candidate in the Jind bypoll.

The state BJP sent a report regarding Saini’s activities to its Central leadership and sought action against him.

The state unit of the party had already stopped sending him information regarding party meetings and events organised by the BJP.

Saini, who have been taking up the cudgels against the government for being “soft” on those involved in the Jat quota violence in 2016, had been a constant embarrassment to state BJP leaders, particularly those belonging to the Jat community.

Despite his hard-hitting statements against the party’s stand on Jat reservation, the BJP had not taken any action against him during the past three years.

BJP leaders believed that Krishan Middha’s victory margin could have been much bigger had Saini not fielded a candidiate.

Subhash Barala, state BJP president, said Saini was out of the party for all practical purposes and his ouster from the party would be a formality. He said the state BJP’s report was before party leaders and they would take the call.
