A Bill to amend the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, 1951, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
Union Minister for Culture Mahesh Sharma introduced the Bill to amend the Act and included wider participation of Opposition parties in managing the memorial in Amritsar. Discussion on the Bill and its passing was not listed in today’s business.
Earlier this month, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved the amendments to secure representation as trustee for the Leader of Opposition, or where there is no such Leader of Opposition, then the Leader of the single largest Opposition party in the House.
