Big win for Dushyant in Uchana Kalan

JJP leader Dushyant Chautala won the battle royale against Prem Lata of the BJP hands down in Uchana Kalan on Thursday. The massive margin of 47,452 votes in his victory over Prem Lata, who was trying to retain the family fort, apparently stunned her husband Birender Singh, a Rajya Sabha member.

Hailing from Dumarkha village of this segment, Birender won this seat five times since 1977 as Congress candidate. He anointed his wife Prem Lata to represent the seat in the Haryana Assembly after he switched to the BJP in 2014.

It was sweet revenge for Dushyant as he had to face defeat against Prem Lata in the 2014 Assembly poll by a margin of 7,480 votes. Dushyant contested the 2014 poll as INLD candidate, but quit his family outfit and formed the JJP in December 2018.

Addressing a gathering in Uchana Kalan after his victory, Dushyant thanked the electorate, stating that despite his absence, people backed him to give him a historic win. “I thank every voter, including Dumarkha villagers, who voted for me,” he said.
