Chandigarh, January 14
Haryana has bagged four awards for its performance under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) programme. The state will be awarded in a function to be organised by the Centre on the occasion of National Girl Child Day in Delhi on January 24. The state has bagged one state-level and three district-level awards.
Stating this here on Monday, an official spokesman said Haryana had been selected in the state-level category ‘Overall support, guidance, monitoring and achieving targets of BBBP’.
Jhajjar district has been selected in the category ‘Enabling Girl Child Education’ and Kurukshetra in the category ‘Enforcement of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act’. Similarly, Karnal has been selected in the category ‘Effective Community Engagement’.
In order to mark fourth anniversary of the BBBP, the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has decided to felicitate five states and UTs and 25 districts for their exemplary performance under the BBBP. — TNS
