Kolkata, January 6

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh created a flutter of sorts in the party as he extended birthday wishes to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying she was currently the only one who had the chance of becoming the first Bengali Prime Minister.

Though Ghosh today retracted saying his statement was made in jest, BJP functionaries were quick to into the damage control mode. Union Minister Babul Supriyo remarked that what Ghosh said about Banerjee was his personal opinion and the party had nothing to do with it.

Another BJP leader Mukul Roy claimed that Ghosh’s remarks about Mamata Banerjee were “misrepresented”by the media. — TNS
