The police have got a major breakthrough with the arrest of Jaman Singh, a proclaimed offender and a member of Sukhpreet Budha gang, who had managed to give them a slip after an encounter at Jattana Khurd village in Mansa on May 31.
Bathinda range IGP MF Farooqui said, “Jaman was making his own gang. Besides, the kind of weaponry he had, he was becoming dangerous. We had already arrested his gang members during the Jattana Khurd encounter. He had also murdered his father and tried to implicate the other group in it.” Jaman Singh was wanted in the murder case of his associate and gangster Ram Singh, which was registered on May 28.
Earlier, SSP Nanak Singh said CIA Staff had got a tip-off on Wednesday that Jaman Singh was in Malerkotla and was looking for an opportunity to move out of Punjab. He led a police team to Malerkotla and arrested the gangster near the bus stand at Kup Khurd village on the Ludhiana road. He was produced in a local court which sent him to five-day police remand today.
Earlier, the police had conducted raid at Jattana Khurd village in Mansa on May 31 to arrest the gangsters associated with Sukhpreet Budha gang. Amritpal Singh, CIA Staff I incharge, called out to Jaman Singh to surrender, but the latter opened fire and escaped.
