Bathinda, September 1

The parent body of Civil Line Club here has filed a petition in the court against the alleged shifting of Guru Nanak Hall and Library from the premises to make way for Congress’ Malwa zone office.

Petitioners Guru Nanak Dev Library and Hall president Jagjit Singh Dhaliwal and Shivdev Singh alleged that leaders of the ruling party had conducted polls of the club illegally. “They want to shift Guru Nanak Hall and Library outside the club, so that they can again start serving liquor and non-vegetarian at the club,” they alleged.

They claimed that on their petition, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) has issued notices to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi, PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and 10 more persons, including office-bearers of the club.

The petitioners have also alleged that most of the office-bearers of the club were leaders of the Congress.

Petitioners advocate Dr Rao said, “On September 30, we filed the petition and the court has fixed September 6 as the first date of hearing in the case.”
