Basdehra PHC selected for Kayakalap Award

The Primary Health Centre (PHC), Basdehra, in Una district, has been selected for the “Kayakalap” Award for the year 2018. It has been declared as the best PHC in the district as per a communiqué from the State Mission Director of the National Health Mission under the parameters set for the Kayakalap Award.

Instituted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the objective of the award is to encourage public health institutions in the country to achieve standards of excellence in cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices, follow procedures and protocols for bio-waste disposal, besides providing quality services to patients.

The Kayakalap Award scheme covers different level of health institutions starting from district-level hospitals to community health centres and primary health centres and includes a citation besides a cash incentive starting from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2 lakh depending on the level of health institution. The awards will be formally given at a function later. Dr Mohinder Kaushal, Medical Officer in-charge of PHC, Basdehra, said Rs 2 lakh will be utilised to improve the existing services. — OC

Eleven more PHCs of Una district have been placed under the ‘Commendation’ category. They will receive a citation, but not the cash incentives. These include PHCs at Panjawar, Palkwah, Dehlan, Lathiani, Shivpur, Sohari Takoli, Raipur Maidan, Amlehar, Akrot, Chaksarai and Bathari.
