Students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, have asked the university authorities to lift a ban on the entry of four-wheelers belonging to them.

In a letter written to the PAU, Estate Officer, Dr Vishvjit Singh Hans, aggrieved students said the authorities have strictly banned an entry of four-wheelers of students in the varsity campus, while visitors were free to take their vehicles inside the campus.

“It has been often observed that four-wheelers without university stickers were entering the university campus. Students have been facing a lot of inconvenience due to this,” reads the letter which has been signed by hundreds of students.

It is pertinent to mention that the university authorities imposed a ban on entry of four-wheelers belonging to the students in order to prevent incidents of rash driving and make campus a four-wheeler free zone in July 2018.

“Along with the letter, we have also submitted photographs of 40-50 cars which were seen entering the university campus without any sticker. We clicked these photographs at Gate No. 4 from 5 pm to 6 pm on February 4. The number will be much higher, if we take into consideration entry of vehicles frm all the gates,” said a university student on condition of anonymity.

Students said they have decided to boycott the decision of the university in this regard and threatened to protest on Monday if their demand would not be met. Dr Hans could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
