A second-year Kashmiri civil engineering student has been arrested on charges of praising the Pulwama suicide attacker, Baddi police said on Saturday.

Tasheen Gul—a who belongs to Kashmir’s Harwan—shared a picture of Adil Dar on Facebook and wrote: “Allal  Talah App k Shahdat Qabool Karay Ameen..’’

The university administration was informed. AK Chauhan, Dean Administration of the private university, filed a complaint with the Baddi police.

Meanwhile, the university held an internal inquiry and suspended Gul.

He was booked under Section 153-B of the Indian Penal Code (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration).

Baddi Superintendent of Police Rohit Malpani said police took away Gul’s mobile phone and searched his room, but found nothing out of place.

A Kasauli court on Sunday ordered the suspect to remain in judicial custody till February 28.

Although, Gul had later deleted the post, screenshots were available.

Gul’s similar Facebook post in January went unnoticed. He wrote in that post: “RIP Shakoor Bhai..Allah App k sHahdat  Qabool Karay..In the Hearts of Green Berds…Missing u Bhai…”

He was referring to a militant, Shakoor Parray, who was killed by the security forces on January 5.
