Solan, February 2

With large-scale economic activities taking place in the state’s industrial hub of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) owing to the presence of key offices, a recommendation to open an office of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau would be made to the state government.

JP Singh, IG, State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, who addressed the local residents and the industry representatives, said this during an awareness camp organised at Baddi today.

Since the area houses 89 per cent of the state’s industry, the presence of a bureau office would serve as a deterrent to those having ulterior motives, said industry representatives. The area is currently looked after by the bureau’s Solan office which is located about 70 km away. Its far-flung location has failed to serve the purpose.

The IG also appealed to the people to inform them about corruption related cases for prompt action so that corruption-related activities could be checked.

The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh area has been notified as a separate police district. It also houses a CID unit besides having its own SP. Presence of a bureau office, which could be headed by a DSP or an Additional SP level officer, would help in prompt action to curb corruption, said bureau officials.
