“The violent attack on the roadshow of BJP chief Amit Shah in West Bengal yesterday was a planned conspiracy of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Shah could have lost his life had the CRPF not intervened,” said national spokesman of BJP Shahnawaz Hussain here today.

The massive show of strength scared the TMC and workers started throwing stones at BJP workers and later demolished the statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar to defame the BJP, he told mediapersons here.

Asserting that peaceful elections were held across the country in six phases except in West Bengal, he urged the Election Commission to depute observers and alleged that policemen were behaving like TMC workers.

He said the TMC government would not survive after the poll as the MLA were not with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Stressing that the return of Modi as Prime Minister was as certain as rising of the sun, Hussain said the BJP would win more than 300 seats while the NDA would get the two-thirds majority.

Having a dig at the Congress, the BJP leader said Congress leaders had accepted the defeat and were saying that the party had fielded candidates in Uttar Pradesh to cut the BJP votes.

He also criticised Mani Shankar Aiyar for his “derogatory” remarks against the media and asked Shimla mediapersons to boycott the Congress until he tendered apology to mediapersons. He said it was unfortunate that Aiyar and Navjot Singh Sidhu had abused for Modi and claps for Imran Khan.

Condemning the attack on Amit Shah, the BJP submitted a memorandum to the President through the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, urging him to give directions to the EC for ensuring peaceful elections in West Bengal and taking strict action against those involved in the attack.

CM terms it unfortunate

Mandi: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has condemned the TMC (Trinamool Congress) workers’ attack on BJP president Amit Shah in West Bengal. Amit Shah was in West Bengal to address a public rally, when, during a roadshow of the BJP, he was attacked.

“It is an unfortunate incident and the nation was ashamed of it. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is responsible for the attack. She is afraid of losing power in West Bengal because the people of West Bengal have decided to support the BJP”, he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah have addressed several public meetings for the Lok Sabha election in West Bengal and the BJP was getting good response.

“The role of the Chief Minister and officials on duty is questionable, because they remained mute spectators. The TMC workers were armed with sharp-edged weapons and roads, when they attacked the BJP rally”, he added.
