Athletes sweat it out during dist-level games on Day 2

BATHINDA: As many as 2,500 players from all across the district showcased their athletic prowess during the second day of the three-day district-level games at the Multipurpose Stadium here on Wednesday.

As many as 2,500 players from all across the district showcased their athletic prowess during the second day of the three-day district-level games at the Multipurpose Stadium here on Wednesday. The games are organized by the Sports Department.

Players participated in 16 different disciplines including kabaddi, athletics, basketball, kho-kho, football, volleyball, discus throw, basketball, table tennis and races, among others.

In kho-kho boys category, Jajjal defeated Kot Shamir 18-4 and Lehra Bega secured the first place in table tennis.

In 800 meters race (boys), Gurpreet Ram from Talwandi Sabo clocked 2.08 minutes to secure first place, Amandeep from Ghuda came second covering the distance in 2.09 minutes and Yadvinder Singh from Bhai Rupa clocked 2.12 minutes to bag the third postion.

In 800 m race (girls), Simarjit Kaur from Ghuda clocked 2.37 minutes to bag the first position, Simaranjot Kaur from Ghuda came second with 2.40 minutes and Mandeep Kaur from Bhai Rupa clocked 2.45 minutes to came third. — TNS
